Wise Words Wednesday

Today Wise Words Wednesday is about having confidence. I believe everyone develops their confidence at different times in their life's. I did not become confidence with myself till I turned 23. As a teenage girl I always care about what people thought about me. I wanted to be cool like all the other cool girls so I stopped doing what I liked to do and did what the cool girls liked to do. I noticed I just started to blend in with the crowd and I know I was not meant to blend in, I was meant to stand out. Over the past years I have developed more confidence within myself. As an adult I could careless what people think about me. I go to the store without make and with my hair all crazy. I know I'm not perfect, my skin isn't perfect, my body isn't perfect, my hair isn't prefect and my life isn't prefect. I've learned I am me and I am my prefect me.

I hope everyones New Years has started off with a BANG! I am so excited to share my first ever favorites blog post. Here are my most used beauty products for the month of January! Hope you enjoy =)

Here are my favorite products from left to right
Soap & Glory Hand Food
Bath & Body Works Wild Madagascar Vanilla,
Kate Somerville Daily Moisturizer
Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash
Tart Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation
Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Perfume
Suave Dry Shampoo Keratin
Bobbie Brown Skin Foundation
Dior Creme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm
EOS Lip Balm
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths
Goody Spin Pins

Soap & Glory Hand Food : This winter has been really rough on my hands. I carry Soap & Glory Hand Food inside my purse and apply it though out the day. The one picture here is the travel size. I also have the full size on my night stand. I love putting this product on before I got to bed and I wake up with soft hands.

Bath & Body Works Wild Madagascar Vanilla : I got this product for Christmas and when I opened the gift the first thing I thought was another body butter to add to my collection that I do not use. BUT I love this body butter. I love how it smells. I am a big fan of vanilla so I think that's what got me. I apply the body butter on my skin right before I go to bed and when I wake up I smell so good. Come on! Who doesn't want to wake up smelling like vanilla!

Kate Somerville Nourish Daily Moisturizer: Ok! I am seriously love this stuff! I am also sad to announce that it is all gone =( I used up the last drop the other day. So that just means one thing I had to include it in my favorites! The only downside about Kate Somerville products are they are expensive but my skin loves them.

Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash: Another one of my favorite Kate Somerville products. I use this face wash night and day. It leaves my skin feeling soft and clean. Since using this product my face has been very clear but I still get the normal hormonal break out on my chin which is normal for me around that time of the month.

Tart Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation: I've been using this product since this summer and still love it. I use it to set my foundation. The foundation is easy to apply and looks great on the skin.

Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Perfume: FINALLY!! I found my signature scent! I seriously love this stuff. I was never a daily perfume wearer but now I am since I found this scent. I am so bad at describing scents so click the link and check it out.

Suave Dry Shampoo Keratin: I have used a lot of dry shampoos in my life time and the Suave dry shampoo with keratin is one of my favorites. This dry shampoo is definitely affordable for everyone to use. The one thing I hate about dry shampoos is that some dry shampoos leave your hair feeling stiff and gross. The Suave dry shampoo does not leave my hair feeling that way, it leaves my hair feeling like I just washed it and got a good blow out.

Bobbie Brown Skin Foundation: I've been using the Bobbie Brown skin foundation for about a month now. The one thing I love about this foundation is that I don't feel like I'm wearing make up. This foundation is light weight and I love how it still lets my skin show.

Dior Creme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm: OMG THIS STUFF IS HEAVEN! I've had the Creme de Rose lip balm for almost a year now and it's definitely worth the splurge! In the winter my lips get so chapped and I apply the Creme de Rose lip balm every night before I go to bed. I wake up with the softest lips ever! You gotta go get this stuff!

EOS Lip Balm: So I think I will always be a fan of the EOS lips balms because they are so stinking cute! I always have one in my purse.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths: I got these make up wipes on a whim the other day at Target. I kind of just threw them in the basket and did not even think about it. When I got home to use them I was impressed. I have very sensitive skin and sometime make up wipes are too much for my skin. But the Cetaphil make up wipes are awesome! They are so gentle on my skin and take off most of my make up.

Goody Spin Pins: Two years ago a friend of mine gave me the spin pins. I always wear my hair up in a messy bun so these little things save my life.

Wise Words Wednesday

Ever since I received my bad news I have be trying to process what my life will be like for the next six months. Sometimes when you receive bad news it is a good idea to just take a break from life and process everything that is going on. And I do not mean shut everyone out of your life. What I mean is take more time to yourself. Read a book, take a bubble bath and just sit outside and enjoy the sun. It sucks when life throws you unexpected curve balls but you just have to keep your head up high and keep on rolling with the punches. Here are some of my favorite words of wisdom.

A Day in Galveston

This past Friday was kind of a sad day for me because I got some bad news. To cheer me up on saturday my parents took me to spend the day in Galveston on The Stand. I love going out to Galveston on nice days and just walking around. We went to my favorite restaurant, browsed some small boutiques, antique stores and ate some ice cream. Galveston is only a 30 minute drive from the wonderful Clear Lake. Sometimes is just nice to change up your scenery to make you feel a little bit better. I wanted to share some of my photos from the day.

We went to my favorite restaurant on The Strand called Olympia. Since it was brunch time, I had to order myself a bloody mary. This bloody mary was seriously one of the best bloody mary's I've ever had and trust me I've had a lot of bloody mary's.

The avocado greek salad is the reason why I love Olympia. This salad is my favorite salad! Every time I go to Olympia I order this salad.

After lunch we walked around The Strand to go look at some of the boutiques and antique shops. This is my second favorite part about visiting Galveston. I LOVE going to different little antique shops. We came across this antique shop, it used to be a old hotel. The first floor of the antique shop is all open and filled with unique items such as old windows, bear claw tubs and old doors. The second floor of the antique shop has tons of rooms and each room is filled with different items. While walking around upstairs we ran into the owner of the antique shop. The owner of the shop took us into one of the rooms and pointed out prices written on the wall. The hotel was a brothel back in the 20's. I love how Galveston has so much history.

We ended our day at La King's ice cream shop. This place is so cool because all the workers dress how the old parlors used to dress in all white with little white hats on. When I go to La King's I always get a root beer float.

And of course I had to take a selfie.

Night time skin care routine

Ever since I started college I have struggled with adult acne. Over the past two years my acne has been pretty bad. Let me tell you about my skin type, I have normal to dry skin but my skin is very sensitive. In the winter my skin gets dry and in the summer my skin gets oily. I have finally developed a great night time skin care routine that keeps my skin mostly clear. I honestly get excited to wash my face at night because I love these products. I still get hormonal breaks around that time of month but it has been manageable. My skin is far from perfect and now that I have my breakouts under control I am working on the acne scarring so if you recommend any products for acne scarring leave a comment. Down below I have listed the different types of products I use on my skin and I also listed the products in the order I used them.

  • Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash: After months and months of trying to find the perfect gentle face wash I finally found it. I am seriously in love with this face wash! I have very sensitive skin so I have to be very careful about what I put on my face or I will break out. The Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash is exactly what the bottle says it is GENTLE. This face wash does not dry out my skin at all instead it leaves it super soft.
  • Proactiv Pore Targeting Treatment: After trying out the Proactiv+ System I discovered all three steps together were to much for my skin. So I decided to just use the Pore Targeting Treatment and stopped using the other two steps. I apply the Pore Targeting Treatment after I wash and pat dry my face. I place the treatment on my check and chin because that is where I break out the most. The Pore Targeting Treatment really helps keep my breakouts under control.
  • Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair: I've always read that you should include a serum in your routine but never really thought twice about it. My grandma has been using the Advanced Night Repair for years and her skins looks great so I thought why not give it a go. I put this serum on after my Pore Targeting Treatment sinks into my skin. When I wake up in the morning my skin feels so good. It is hard to describe how this serum makes my skin feel, the only way to describe it is that I feel fresh in the mornings.
  • Kate Somerville Nourish Daily Moisturizer : Who would of thought you can be in love with a moisturizer! I seriously love this stuff. I apply this morning and night. This daily moisturizer keeps my skin feeling soft and hydrated all day along. And did I mention it is light weight on the skin.
  • Makeup Remover: My best friend knows I am a make up junkie and for christmas she got me the S.W. Basic of Brooklyn make up remover. I never heard of the brand before but I was curious how it is made with only three ingredients! Organic sweet almond oil, organic olive oil and organic jojoba oil. I apply the makeup removed onto a cotton ball, place it on my eye for about 20 seconds then swipe to remove my mascara. It definitely gets the job done!
  • boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge With Complexion Clearing Clay: This product has changed my skin care routine for the better. I use this product during the day or night when I feel like my skin needs a little boost. I place the sponge under warm water then put a dime size amount of the Kate Somerville Gentle face wash on the sponge.  I lather up the wash face with the sponge and once it is all lathered I wash my face with the sponge in circular motions.
